October is “Fair Trade” month, and we are pleased to feature one of Vienna Coffee Company’s own “Fair Trade Certified” in October, Organic Nicaragua.
This coffee, from the La Providencia Cooperative, grows in the highest zones of Kilambé, just a few miles from the Honduras border, and dries on decks that use solar-powered dryers. La Providencia members each grow and harvest coffee on their individually owned plots, which are planted with native flora. Ripened coffee is harvested by family members and nearby co-op associates….

Today is the end of an era. Melissa Leinart (Missy) is retiring today after 17 years. Most of that time, she has been our principal Roaster and ushered us through to “Best Coffee” awards every year! Her work has earned us Bronze Medals in the Golden Bean national competition 4 times and in 2016, we were even named the “State of TN Best Coffee Roaster” by the national publication, Mental Floss. It’s safe to say that Vienna would not be here without her help! Please join me in thanking her and wishing her good luck and God’s speed as she enters her next chapter!
